Interview with fashion blogger Andreas

Nowadays fashion bloggers play an important role in fashion industry such as editors, designers and so on. They are really trendsetters. Their new personal outfits post on their blogs featuring new points of view... new fashion.... And today I would like to talk about fashion blogging with my pal from Norway - fashion blogger Andreas.

Dmitry: Let’s start by hearing a little about yourself. Who is Andreas?

Andreas: Who is Andreas? I'm a 21 year old guy from Norway. Student, fashionist and blogger at www.andreassnapshot.com but above all; life enjoyer.

Dmitry: How did you get started blogging? What are your aspirations for your blog and web presence?

Andreas: I started blogging 2 years ago. I wanted to crate a place for myself and my readers where we could find inspiration together. In the beginning it was difficult finding what kind of style and image I wanted to send out. So I started posting snapshots from my daily life, pictures of my outfits and trips to different places. When I'm writing my post I always try to think; Is this something that I would read?
My aspirations for my blog and web presence is to have a platform of quality photos and inspiration for others. I'm not interested about making money or have a lots of sponsors. I appreciate every reader that I have, and want to give them something real. I'm very thankful for my blog, have met a lot of people in the industry that inspires me, and made friends that I will have for the rest of my life.

Dmitry: How did you first get interested in fashion and why is it important?

Andreas: My first interest for fashion was at a very young age. From when I first learned to read I always had my face down in my mothers Vogue and Elle magazine. I grown up in a very small town in North Norway, so I always stood out from other kids in my class with my clothes and interest for fashion. I feel that fashion is important because it sends out a message to others on what kind of person you are. I don't think you are born with one sense of style, you need to live and learn to create what kind of person you want to be.

Dmitry: How have you grown your blog and expanded your readership?

Andreas: With help from friends in the industry, Facebook and Instagram I got a lot of free advertising on the blog. I think If readers like what they read they will come back. To make my blog grow I started working harder with my photos, bought equipment, and editing program, posted post regularly.
Dmitry: How would you describe your personal style?

Andreas: Describing my personal style is difficult for me, because it depends all about my mood that day. If I'm tired I try to dress happy, maybe it will reflect to my head. But if I was going to describe my style with some words it would be; chic, personal, and confidence. You can look like a million dollars in a garbage bag as long as you trust yourself.

Dmitry: Who or what has been your greatest fashion influence?

Andreas: My greatest fashion influence must be Oliver Rousteing, the designer of the French fashion house Balmain. He is so young and creative and makes the most fantastic clothes ever. I know people doubted him because of he's age, but he has proven the world several times that he's the best. I think he's a role model for other young boys that dream about a place in the industry. And he's super handsome as well!
Dmitry: Which is your favorite fashion designer at the moment, and why?

Andreas: Beside Balmain my favourite brand and designer must be the one behind Givenchy. They always make edgy and chic clothes, collection after collection. Balenciaga is also a favourite. The mothership behind the perfect leather jackets.

Dmitry: What current fashion trends do you like and dislike the most at the moment?

Andreas: The current fashion trend that I like the most right now must be the perfect leather pants with the perfect blue shirt. Edgy meet classic. The worst trend right now must be spikes shoes from Jeffery Campel and Uggs. I hate them! Logo flash is also something that I try to stay away from. (When I was younger; the more logos the better, LOL).
Dmitry: What is a fashion rule you never break?

Andreas: One fashion rule that I never brake is ... never buy fake things! If you can't afford it, don't try to fake it. And last but not least; quality before quantity.

Dmitry: What is the most underrated item in menswear?

Andreas: The most underrated item in menswear must be the accessories. I wish that guys would use more time and money on that. And a good watch! A classic watch from Rolex mixes with a bracelet from Hermes or Cartier makes me crazy! I've been craving the Love bracelet from Cartier for years now!

Dmitry: How much does an outfit affect people's thoughts about others?

Andreas: And outfit that you wear can affects people's thoughts about you a lot! As mentioned before, style is about showing others what kind of person you are. If I see a boy or a girl with a cool bag (don't need to be a super trendy bag) a bag of good leather, I always think in my head; that's a person that appreciate quality, and a good handwork. But it can go the other way too, if I see a girl that looks just like the manikin at YSL that proves that she has no personal style. Just a copycat.

Dmitry: What would be the one fashion tip you would give to readers of my blog?

Andreas: My best fashion tip for the chic readers of your blog must be; Invest in something timeless if its really expensive, and wear everything with confidence. Even your pyjamas.

Dmitry: What advice do you have to a newbie blogger? What do you wish you could go back and tell yourself at the beginning of your blogging journey?

Andreas: An advise for a newbie blogger is; stand out, don't be the girl/boy next door. We have all seen that before! And be careful when you edit your photos! Make it clean and beautiful. When I first started blogging I made my photos look so over edit, looked like Cruella De Vil on a bad day.

Dmitry: And finally. Where do you see your site in 5 years time?

Andreas: Hopefully in five years I'm done with college, working in a magazine with the things I love the most. People and fashion!
Stay cool and thanks for letting me take a part of your blog.
